Margaret does all of the baking and you will usually see her at the front of house making sure that every thing is running smoothly and everyone that comes to visit us is as comfortable as possible. Andrew is an Accountant by training and ran his own Accountancy practice but has always had a keen interest in food and cooking and loves to try new foods and cuisines.
Our aim
We aim to offer a relaxing atmosphere where you can come and enjoy good food and good company in a beautiful rural setting next to the Mill Burn in the smallest Royal Burgh in Scotland. We want all of our customers to have the experience at The Smithy that we would want to have ourselves.
Local Suppliers
Where possible we try to use local suppliers to cut down on food miles and keep our ingredients as fresh as possible. As a keen gardener Andrew is aiming to produce fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden at the back of The Smithy. We look forward to the future of The Smithy and what it holds for us and our customers!
Dumfries and Galloway
Our local area and Scotland in general is blessed to have some fantastic producers and where possible we aim to use them as much as possible. This we hope helps to support the local economy and reduces our transport miles.
